Guidelines for participation in the Bujinkan: www.bujinkan.com
The Guidelines will be enforced in this dojo.
If you are interested in training with us, please check the calendar of events for current days and times. You are welcome to come and observe a class, or just jump right in and train. Please call or e-mail us prior to showing up. Dojo phone is 702-882-9124 or email nvbujinkan@gmail.com. Please be sure to introduce yourself and say what makes you interested in studying martial arts when you call or write for information.
New students must sign a waiver before their training starts. The waiver will be provided to you at class. For those under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian will need to sign the waiver. See anyone with a green belt for help with this.
When a new student begins training, he or she will learn basic, fundamental movements such as: rolling, kicking, punching and basic stances (kamae). While these skills take some time to refine, there are no basic or advanced classes. All students, beginner or advanced, train together on the technique sensei just demonstrated.
What to Wear
A training do gi is recommended, but not required to start. Wear clothing and shoes that are comfortable and allow for free movement and being on the ground. Often, grass or items on the ground can scratch or irritate the skin, so full length pants and sleeves are a good idea. Once a person passes their 9th kyu test, they are asked to begin wearing the traditional black do gi. High quality uniforms are available online or at reputable martial arts supply stores. See the links page for some good sources of training supplies.
Avoid wearing jewelry that dangles or could get caught in clothing or hair, or otherwise be dangerous to others as you move in class.
Pricing
The first four classes are free of charge. Please use this time to asses if this art is for you. After this, dues are $45 per month for Estorga-sensei's class.
Drop in fee: $10 per class.
White envelopes are used to pay dues, and are located in the 3-ring binder "dojo book". Please see any ranking student as to the etiquette for paying dues.
Annual dues are $25 and grants you official membership in the international Bujinkan, an official membership card from Japan, and student handbook guide. There are no testing fees. Kyu rank certificates are $50.
We Look Forward to Seeing You!
The dojo is much more than a place to learn to fight and protect--we are family! After each training we drink tea, eat, listen, talk and laugh! We try to regularly have a Dojo Dinner night, pot luck style gathering at Sensei's house, or go out for sushi. Often, the people you sweat and train with, become good Buyu: martial friends.
